We hear it so many times…..I’m doing everything I can.
Cold reality is you’re not. I’m sorry if that sounds harsh but much like a lot of reality, it is.
I’ve dealt with people for over twenty years and I’ve heard that statement so many times, I’ve heard all manner of things rationalised and validated within someones life as to why, in some particular aspect they’re not progressing.
Business, nutrition and training……all three of them. Lack of results, validated, rationalised and excused.
Once upon a time I used to hear excuses, a few years into my career though I didn’t hear them anymore. I heard the same things I used to say and same rationale I put behind my lack of progression.
I heard reasons and I heard problems.
I heard people who didn’t acknowledge what they consumed.
People who simply had a perception that didn’t match the reality that was required to get the results they wanted. In business, in nutrition or in their training.
My job was to find a solution to that problem, to change their perception and change the way in which the consciously worked and acknowledged things.
What they ate, how they saw the gym and training. How they perceived failure and how it impacted their future decisions.
Along the way there was one thing I noticed.
Most people who succeeded in one…….succeeded in all of them.
Their mindset changed. They looked at things through a different lens. Their whole perception changed.
Whats hard work? In business, in training and in nutrition.
Whats intelligent work?
Whats rationale and whats irrationale?
Whats logical and what isn’t?
They accepted defeat and failure as something thats part of success instead of something that was a negative. Accepted that things don’t always go right and when they don’t a lesson was learned and never repeated.
They stopped excusing themselves and beating themselves up about things that didn’t go right and things they couldn’t control.
They stopped worrying about what people thought besides those people who were of value to them.
They stopped seeing negative feedback. They only saw feedback. All of it positive, simply something to work on or something that perhaps didn’t.
Our mindset plays such a role with our own progression in life. At times our spirit gets broken and we start seeing the things that prior to that point played no relevance.
Maybe they anger us.
Maybe they frustrate us.
Maybe they drain us.
Maybe these are things you’re feeling right now. Maybe you just need to shift your mindset. If it was as simple as switch it would be easy.
My reason for writing this……
Maybe you’ll realise you’re far from alone.
Maybe you’ll realise there is a polar point to where you mentally are right now.
Maybe you’ll be able to accept your own flaws and failures and know that every person you aspire to be like out there has those same issues. They just handle them differently.
Maybe tomorrow, maybe on Monday that lens will change.
